Classics and Religious Studies Homerathon is held for the first time at UNL
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Classics and Religious Studies Department is hosting its first ever Homerathon.

Join us on Thursday, April 19th starting at 7 a.m. on the Meier Commons green space, 1400 R St, Lincoln, NE. The event will run until the early hours Friday morning. Participants and attendees are free to come and go as they please.

A Homerathon is a marathon reading of Homer’s Iliad, the way the ancient Greeks intended for it to be experienced. The Classics students are bringing the ancient epic to life for both the university and extended Nebraska communities. Come and be a part of the audience and see why the Iliad remains relevant to our contemporary discussions of violence, heroism and justice. In addition to the reading, various other forms of entertainment will occur throughout the day, and food and drink will be available for attendees. Undergraduates will also be able to answer any questions you may have about Homer’s Iliad throughout the day. Plus, you can get more involved by reading a passage yourself! Become a part of our interactive experience!

The Homerathon is part of a University Research project (UCARE) which is designed to help develop job skills for students through research and leadership experiences. By creating and organizing the Homerathon, students worked in teams to implement original ideas and make contacts with local businesses. By attending you support undergraduate students and make research such as this possible.
