Big Red Singers closes its 2018-2019 performance season with a performance at home in the Glenn Korff School of Music’s Kimball Recital Hall Sunday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m., along with the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
They will be performing both their Nebraska Show Choir Camp Show and their 2019 Custom Show. You will get to enjoy all this season’s fan-favorites, such as “Peroxide Swing,” choreographed by April James, “Fallen Star,” choregraphed by Braxton Carr, and “Heartlines,” choregraphed by Lexi Robson. Big Red Singers will also be debuting one new piece, choreographed by Braxton Carr and Matt Watson, entitled “Loose,” made popular by recording artist Allen Stone. This will be the last opportunity to catch this ensemble this year. You don’t want to miss it!
The Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of David von Kampen, will perform seven tunes including Baby Driver, I’ll Be Seeing You and finish with Hanging On. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a small choir, open to all members of the University community by audition. Students are instructed in jazz style, ensemble singing, lyric delivery, solos and improvisation.
Nebraska’s Big Red Singers is an ensemble featuring some of the university’s finest musicians. Outstanding performers from all over the university, representing a variety of different majors, work together in the development of entertaining, high-energy, fully-choreographed shows. The ensemble’s repertoire is chosen from a wide variety of popular music as well as music from Broadway. Big Red Singers functions as an ambassador of the choral area, the Glenn Korff School of Music, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It is designed to provide the university singer with guidance in performing, performance opportunities, experiences, and leadership skills.
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a small choir, open to all members of the University community by audition. Students are instructed in jazz style, ensemble singing, lyric delivery, solos and improvisation. The ensemble performs arrangements of standard and contemporary jazz repertoire in collaboration with a rhythm section. VJE participates in various performances both on and off-campus each semester, including appearances at regional jazz festivals.
