The Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) offer graduate mathematics and pedagogy courses in just one or two weeks to help you earn graduate credit hours at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln conveniently and affordably.
This summer, MATH 802T: Functions, Algebra and Geometry, will be offered in Norfolk from June 10-14 (Class # 3266, Section # 951). The target audience for MATH 802T is grades 6-9 teachers.
To make the NMSSI professional development opportunities more affordable, UNL has agreed to offer tuition discounts to Nebraska teachers who take our summer courses. Nebraska teachers automatically qualify for a Tuition Fellowship (20% of in-state tuition) for these graduate courses.
Teachers can also apply for a $300 fellowship from the NMSSI to help cover the tuition cost. Apply here: https://cse.unl.edu/scimath/apps/apply.php.
All NMSSI courses also include a free lunch on each day of class.
Doug Glasshoff, a teacher with East Butler Public Schools and a Math in the Middle graduate, will be the course instructor for MATH 802T. Doug also taught MATH 802T in 2011. Here are what some teachers had to say about Doug’s instruction and the rewards from taking an NMSSI course:
"Doug did a great job teaching/explaining/guiding the class."
"Having the opportunity to discuss mathematics with colleagues was invaluable."
"I am truly grateful to once again have the opportunity to take part in professional development this past summer. It was a great reinforcement to see the great things that the teachers in the State of Nebraska are doing in their classrooms."
