
The Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) offer graduate mathematics and pedagogy courses that are in a weeklong format to help you take advantage of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's professional development opportunities conveniently and affordably. Math 803P for grades K-4 teachers will be offered on the UNL City Campus this summer. Use your LPS tuition bank credits to take a course with us!
As follows are the course dates, times and description for this Lincoln course:
June 6-10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
MATH 803P: Algebraic Thinking for the Elementary Classroom – Class # 3060, Sec # 591, Instructor: Sherry West, Noyce Master Teacher, Lincoln Public Schools
Discussion will revolve around student understanding of Algebraic properties of mathematics as participants examine case studies, video segments and student work samples. Participants will explore instructional strategies for fostering Algebraic thinking that are appropriate for both the primary (K-2) and intermediate (3-5) elementary classrooms.
