
The Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) offers graduate courses in mathematics for elementary and middle-level teachers in a weeklong format to help you take advantage of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's professional development opportunities conveniently and affordably. We want to bring your attention to three mathematics classes and one pedagogy course in the Omaha area:
TEAC 892: Manipulatives in Mathematics Education (Class # 4007), June 19-23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools in Ashland, Nebraska
Math 804P: Problem Solving & Critical Thinking for Elementary Teachers (Class # 3230), June 26-30, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Omaha
Math 800T: Math as a Second Language (Class # 3020), July 10-14, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Omaha
Math 803P: Algebraic Thinking for the Elementary Classroom (Class # 3336), July 24-28, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Omaha

To enroll in UNL graduate courses in the NMSSI, follow the four steps outlined on the website, http://scimath.unl.edu/nmssi/. This year we are offering 30 math and science courses across the state and online to meet your professional development needs. Check out our course catalog to read about them all.
For all on-site NMSSI courses, current Nebraska teachers automatically qualify for a tuition reduction equal to 20 percent of in-state, graduate tuition. Additionally, Nebraska K-12 teachers can apply for supplemental NMSSI Fellowships to further defray tuition costs for NMSSI courses. • The $50 UNL Graduate Studies admission fee is waived for current Nebraska teachers
