Enjoy a day trip to Kearney on Wednesday, Jan 29, with your OLLI friends to explore a variety of art. See the Museum of Nebraska Art’s exhibition “The Lundeens: A Divine Collaboration" and Kearney’s classic car museum. Get out and about on this journey to see some of Nebraska’s most significant art.

In 2015, the Lundeen studio was commissioned to create several sculptures for The Cloisters on the Platte, a religious and silent retreat center conceived by philanthropist Joe Ricketts and located on the Nebraska prairie near Gretna. The bronze figures consist of some of the most complex representations of the Stations of the Cross in the world today. The exhibition showcases the process to create these monumental works ranging from drawings and sketches to maquettes (smaller scale models). In adjacent galleries, works by six of the Lundeen family dynasty of artists complement the Cloisters sculptures.

Kearney's Classic Car Collection has over 200 automobiles that illustrate the evolution and art of the automobile and its role in our lives. The collection is diverse and includes cars from many different eras. The museum has recreated a 1950's gas station, with both vintage tools and modern devices, which shows the progression of technical sophistication and advancement. There is also a drive-in theater screen and display that incorporates the original ticket booth from the local Kearney Drive-In. Other displays include various video screens showing historical footage and events

Travel includes round trip motor coach transportation, guided tour of the Museum of Nebraska Art, snacks and water, and a AAA Nebraska escort. Lunch is on your own during a stop with multiple dining choices.
