Thank you to Dean Kostelnik

Saying farewell.
Saying farewell.

OLLI congratulates Marjorie Kostelnik, the College of Education and Human Sciences' first and only dean, who took on a new challenge on July 1. She accepted an offer from University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds to be senior associate to the president.

In the new role, she will lead the implementation of university-wide efforts to realize efficiencies and cost reductions across service areas, while protecting the quality of education on all four NU campuses.

Kostelnik became CEHS dean in 2003 following the joining of Teachers College and the College of Human Resources and Family Sciences, where she had previously served as dean. Many “firsts” were accomplished in CEHS under her leadership, including becoming one of the first colleges in the nation to join education and human sciences in one college.

“CEHS has an academic culture that is healthy and strong; collaborative and caring; respected and effective,” says Kostelnik. “Those qualities will continue to permeate CEHS programs as they forge ahead. Of course, no good organization remains static. I am confident that this is just the beginning of a wonderful future and that CEHS will continue its upward trajectory beyond anything we have yet envisioned.”

Beth Doll, CEHS associate dean for academic affairs, will serve as interim chair until a permanent dean is selected in 2018.

Please take a moment to read Dean Kostelnik’s final message as CEHS dean, and take a moment to wish her well.
