The University of Nebraska State Museum and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences will host the annual "Dinosaurs and Disasters" event from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at Morrill Hall, 645 N. 14th St.
Scientists and students at Nebraska will provide hands-on activities and demonstrations to help children and their families explore the history of discovery. Visitors can learn who is behind the Richter scale that measures the strength of earthquakes and who created the first scientific map of the ocean floor. For the first time, visitors can make their way around the museum to collect a set of take-home trading cards.
Mueller Planetarium will present the full-dome show "Into the Deep," a breathtaking journey of sea exploration combining marine biology and underwater geology with a history of deep-sea exploration. Show times are 10 and 11 a.m., noon, and 1, 2 and 3 p.m. The show is 35 minutes. Due to overhead motion and occasional loud sounds, children under 4 will not be admitted.
Regular museum and planetarium admission will be charged. Parking is free in front of the museum.
