Curious about the past? Interested in exploring Nebraska history with others? People looking for a way to spark curiosity about our heritage can become curiosity guides, formerly known as docents, at the Nebraska History Museum, 131 Centennial Mall North, in Lincoln.
Training classes begin the first week of October for volunteers to work with students to discover Nebraska's many stories. Training is provided by Nebraska History Museum staff through weekly sessions in October and then ongoing, monthly sessions led by historians, curators, and educators.
Curiosity guides need to be curious about Nebraska history but also about how to help visitors satisfy their own curiosity about historical objects, old photographs, and surprising stories.
Ability to work with groups of all ages and interests is a plus. Benefits include a flexible schedule, behind the scenes experiences, working with kids and a chance to learn more about our state's history.
