Do you know a student with a passion for helping others or a desire to make a difference on campus and in their community?
Big Red Resilience and Well-being (BRRWB) has a variety of opportunities for students who want to contribute to building a culture of care on campus.
Through peer education, BRRWB emphasizes the importance of mental health and well-being while encouraging students to ask for help in any area related to one’s well-being. Their programs aim to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere for students to engage in dialogue about mental health and suicide prevention.
Through each volunteer position, students build connections with other students who have similar goals and come from a variety of backgrounds, majors and interests. Students will learn about well-being practices while helping their peers explore available resources and emphasizing balance among all dimensions of well-being.
Volunteers assist in hosting events across campus to engage students in our services and provide fun and meaningful activities for their peers.
Volunteer opportunities include Well-being Ambassadors, REACH Suicide Prevention Trainers, Husker Pantry volunteers, Money Coaches and interns.
Emma Farson, a Well-being Ambassador, REACH trainer and intern with BRRWB says, “Each role in BRRWB is important and unique. It helped me to develop the skills to advocate for and support students on campus and has been my most impactful experience during my time at UNL. I would recommend any position to any student who recognizes the importance of wellness and is looking to grow themselves.”
More about the positions and volunteer applications is available at https://resilience.unl.edu/get-involved. Applications are open until April 8.
Students may apply for more than one position if they have the availability and desire to participate in more than one area.
