The College of Business Administration and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Undergraduate Women in Business student organization is hosting the annual Women in Business conference on Friday, February 26. The conference will be held at Nebraska Innovation Campus from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and is open to women who are students, young professionals and members of the business community. Attendees may choose to attend the full day or the networking reception and keynote speaker portion from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The conference is sponsored by Nelnet and Union Bank & Trust along with Ameritas, Talent Plus and the Lincoln Community Foundation and features two keynote speakers and nine breakout sessions.
“We are delighted to host Jan Fields, former president of McDonald’s USA, LCC as our keynote speaker. Everyone will be able learn from her leadership and career journey,” said Dr. Donna Dudney, associate dean for undergraduate programs and student engagement and associate professor of finance. “The breakout sessions offer a variety of timely business topics from networking, strengths and negotiation all the way to improving your brand and breaking into a male-dominated field.”
Fields will deliver the keynote address sharing her motivational career story where dedication and hard work took her through all levels of the company, starting with french fries and developing into being responsible for the strategic direction and overall business results of 14,000 McDonald’s restaurants throughout the United States.
Amber Williams, UNL director of admissions, will be the luncheon presenter. Breakout sessions led by alumni and business community leaders will follow. One of the breakout sessions will be led by Dr. Donde Plowman, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the College of Business Administration, who will present on negotiation based on her nationally-ranked research.
The registration for any college or university students is $15 for the full day with lunch. Business professional registration is $60 for the full day with lunch or $40 to attend only the networking reception and keynote presentation. Register at http://cba.unl.edu/cwbc by Friday, February 19.
