2. We are conveniently located. The last thing your student wants to do when they’re sick is trek across campus to their car or a bus stop and travel to the other side of town for an appointment. Instead, they can save their time and energy by making the short walk to the University Health Center (UHC), located in the heart of City Campus, next to the new College of Business building.

3. We offer more than just primary care. Although treating illnesses and injuries is an important part of what we do, we also offer:

4. Some services are no cost for your student. All students can receive free flu shots, HIV testing at our off-site HIV test site, 24-hour doses of certain over-the-counter medications, free safer sex supplies through Protection Connection and access to health and well-being educational events and resources provided by Health Promotion & Outreach. Students who pay the University Program and Facilities Fees, commonly known as student fees can receive the following services at no extra charge: Five Medical and/or Travel Clinic visits per calendar year, four individual counseling sessions per academic lifetime, certain CAPS support groups, certain doctor-ordered STD testing, doctor-ordered wellness profiles and more. Some restrictions apply. To learn more, visit health.unl.edu/covered.

5. We have convenient hours. We know your student has a busy schedule, which is why we open early and close late. Our fall semester building hours are:
Monday and Thursday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If your student needs assistance after hours, they can call 402.472.5000 and follow the prompts to speak with a nurse or counselor. Learn more on the website.

6. Making appointments is easy. Your student can make an appointment in person at UHC or call 402.472.5000. Some return appointments can be scheduled through our online patient portal, which your student will learn more about when they check-in for their first appointment. We accept walk-ins, but we encourage appointments to avoid a wait.

7. We participate with most insurance companies. See the Nebraska Medicine website for a complete list. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to ensure Nebraska Medicine is in-network with your plan before your student schedules an appointment. Your student will need to bring his or her insurance card or a copy/picture of yours to their appointment.

8. We follow applicable privacy laws. The age of majority in Nebraska is 19. Once your student turns 19, parents cannot access their students’ health records without their written consent.
