Does your student use LinkedIn?

It's never too early to start career networking. LinkedIn can serve as a good tool.
It's never too early to start career networking. LinkedIn can serve as a good tool.

It’s that time of the year- job and internship application season. Whether your student is still on the hunt for employment, or they have something lined up, make sure to encourage them to use LinkedIn during their endeavors.

LinkedIn is a valuable resource for job searching. All your student needs to do to start is fill out their profile page. After that, students can connect with employers, find open positions and network with past and current employees-- all with a click of a button. If they’re interested in working at a certain company, they can search through the current employees and find Nebraska alumni to connect with. It’s a great way for students to get their foot in the door. And if your student has a position lined up -- encourage them to report it on LinkedIn. We love seeing Huskers succeed!

For more job postings, they can always check Husker Hire Link. The website functions like many job search sites, but with jobs specifically for Nebraska students. Encourage them also to see if their department has a job/internship email newsletter. Many departments provide these to students with updated opportunities every week. The Career Services website offers even more job search resources where your student can find links to job search sites for specific regions, interests and even resources for those with diverse backgrounds.
Happy hunting, Huskers!
