CAPS offers new online resources for parents

Counseling and Psychological Services is helping parents take a proactive role in their students' mental health by offering helpful resources on its newly redesigned website.

Visit the website to:

  • Learn how and when to consult with Counseling and Psychological Services staff when concerned about a student’s mental well-being
  • Find ways to support a student’s mental well-being throughout her/his academic career
  • View an FAQ page about Counseling and Psychological Services designed specifically for Husker parents
  • Review information on student privacy and information limits
  • Access links to national reputable resources for parents


This information can be accessed by visiting health.unl.edu/caps and selecting options from the Parent Resources tab at the top of the page.

Additional highlights of the new website include:
  • An expanded overview of services to help students know what to expect from an appointment
  • A list of helpful apps for self-care
  • Educational videos and articles about common student concerns such as anxiety, body image, depression, relationships, sexual assault, stress, loneliness, adjusting to college, substance use and suicidal ideation
  • A new section on the Counseling and Psychological Services team's commitment to diversity, which also explains resources and services for students in specific underserved populations, such as LGBTQIA+ students, veterans, students of color and more


Parents are encouraged to peruse the new website and promote the new resources to their students.
