The Nebraska Department of Agriculture releases a biannual newsletter that shares current information on regulatory changes, invasive plants to monitor for, and updates to programs like the FieldWatch suite of apps. Covid caused a big spike in the demand for disinfectants. This demand turned into an outlet for people to cheat others by selling disinfectants without proper registration or labeling. Registration is a key component for all pesticides, including disinfectants, because registration requires risk assessment testing to ensure that products are not harmful to humans and the environment when used according to approved label language. Lincoln, Nebraska, was no exception to this situation as one man illegally sold unregistered disinfectants to unknowing citizens. And finally, the AltEn saga continues as the companies seek to become a part of the Voluntary Cleanup Program in Nebraska.
