IT Procurement updates

Another new Fiscal Year has begun at the University of Nebraska, and we are adjusting to a completely different normal compared to this time last year. Many are still working remotely, and many of our current technology purchases are connected to remote learning, social distancing and other COVID-19 related items. The IT Procurement team is balancing working remotely and keeping the University running and available to help you navigate your technology purchases, including eSHOP, non-catalog, eBid situations, sourcing product(s) and contract reviews and negotiations.

We are working to update the eSHOP NeWare store and renew various software titles, including but not limited to ArcGIS, SPSS, Microsoft and Tableau. Remember to visit the IT Procurement Services website regularly https://itprocurement.unl.edu where you can view our catalog of available software titles. Also, please use the link on this site to request a quote for software you cannot find in our catalog. If you have any software questions, comments or requests, you are always welcome to email itprocurement@unl.edu or call (402)472-4294.

It is important to engage with either IT Procurement Services or ITS Strategic Sourcing from the beginning of your technology purchase. We can help with facilitating the review of the terms and conditions, acquiring the signatures of both parties and managing the software compliance review, if needed. Next, keep in mind University signature authority when making software purchases and your department’s ability to (https://bf.unl.edu/policies/signature-authority), or agree to supplier terms for software; this should be brought to IT Procurement Services to help complete the reviewing and signature process.

Finally, all new software (defined as any software that has not been previously used by the University system) must be reviewed through the University Compliance Review to ensure it meets guidelines for enterprise architecture, security, accessibility, identity management, data and PCI. If there are any questions, please contact us at itprocurement@unl.edu and we be happy to help you with your purchase.
