John Lohmeier knows the Lincoln campus inside and out. He's been in every building, every nook and cranny, every storage unit imaginable. As the Manager of Inventory, Surplus & Asset Management, John knows the University's "stuff".
In 1977, John began as a mover, advanced to moving supervisor and eventually the property control supervisor. Nowadays he says he is "the guy who audits your department one day and finds you a nice desk or chair the next day!"
As the manager of Inventory, Surplus & Asset Management, John provides direction on the acquisition of fixed assets, transfer of assets and disposal of surplus property. He opens the Inventory Surplus Warehouse each Wednesday for University faculty and staff to purchase items at low cost for departmental use. A public auction is held every 2-3 months where remaining items can be purchased by the public. Family is very important to John and he loves spending time with his wife, kids and grand kids. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys being outside hunting. Friends will find him at Merle's of Emerald enjoying a good meal, topped off by his favorite ice cream, chocolate chip!
