'Fridays in Fall' highlights free student-focused events happening on campus on Fridays from Fall Break to the end of the semester. All students are welcome.

SLAM POET FreeQuency, hosted by UPC Nebraska and the Women's Center
7:30 p.m. @ Nebraska Union Ballroom

Mwende “FreeQuency” Katwiwa is a 26-year-old Kenyan, Immigrant, Queer Womyn writer and speaker. The 2018 Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, a 2017 TEDWomen speaker and ranked 3rd at the 2015 Individual World Poetry Slam, FreeQuency is a highly sought after performer, host, social justice teaching artist and workshop leader. Having spent their life at the intersection of arts, education and activism, they and/or their work in Reproductive Justice, #BlackLivesMatter organizing & activism, LGBTQ+ advocacy and writing have been featured on The Independent, the New York Times, OkayAfrica, Upworthy, TEDx, For Harriet, Teen Vogue, Huffington Post, Everyday Feminism, & other outlets.

Free for UNL students with a valid N-Card and $5 for faculty, staff, and the public.

INSPIRING RADICAL CREATIVITY: AN EVENING with GABBY RIVERA,
hosted by UPC Nebraska and the LGBTQA+ Center

Gabby Rivera is a queer Latinx writer living in Oakland, CA. She is currently writing AMERICA, America Chavez’s solo series, for Marvel. America is Marvel’s first Latina lesbian superhero. Gabby would give a lecture as well as provide a writer's workshop at UNL during the Fall 2019 semester.
