LINCOLN, NE—April 3, 2012—The UNL chapter of the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business organization recently competed at the Nebraska PBL State Leadership Conference in Kearney, Nebraska. Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate version of Future Business Leaders of America. Focusing on bringing business and education together through innovative leadership and career development programs, PBL is a business and leadership organization of over 11,000 college students. At the State Leadership Conference, members compete in a variety of over 50 events, including job interview, accounting, computer programming, impromptu speaking, marketing, and website development, among others. Members were also able to attend informative workshops, campaign for and elect state officers, and network with National PBL President, Jake Barreau, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
UNL was represented at the conference by 35 members, who achieved 101 competitive event awards. Two UNL PBL members were elected as Nebraska State Officers for the 2013-2013 year. UNL also received the awards for largest 4 year membership and most volunteering hours for 2011-2012. Over twenty UNL members have qualified to compete at the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio in June.
