Last week, we highlighted one of our Recognized Student Organizations on social media, the UNL Plant Biology Club!
Plant Biology Club is a student organization for Plant Biology minors and majors, fostering a community of shared interest in plant sciences. The club actively collaborates with other student groups like the Herpetology Club, Insect Science Club, and Biology Club to broaden its interdisciplinary reach.
They provide a forum for students, alumni, faculty, and industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and advance the field of Plant Biology.
Here is what some members said about their involvement in the club:
Emily Fast: “I’m a senior, and I’ve been in the club since my sophomore year. I joined the club to get to know people in my major since it’s such a small community. What makes the club different is the mix of both career-building activities along with just fun activities.”
Ethan Wilkinson: “I'm currently in the first semester of my junior year and joined in the 2nd semester of my sophomore year. I joined the club because in many of my classes, it can be hard to find people with similar interests and goals, but so many of the people in the Plant Biology club have similar views, interests, and experiences. Plant Biology Club is unique in that it's a small, intimate club with some larger-than-life personalities who are legitimately brilliant in their own ways, even though they're more than willing to joke around when the time is right.”
Ashley Abrahams: “I'm a sophomore in the Plant Biology Club. What made me want to join my freshman year was the people. I was nervous to meet new people coming into college, but the people in the plant biology club made me feel welcome.”
