Three brand new courses will be offered this summer that will help SGIS students gain experiential experiences. This summer we're offering GEOG 491: Ethnographic Field School: Garden, Food and Community Outreach with Yazidi Farmers and GLST 391: Negotiating Peace: From Conflict to Coexistence. In the fall of 2021 we'll be offering ANTH/GLST 214: Food and Culture.
These courses will help students gain a local-global experience. Many of them will put students in direct contact with local immigrant and refugee populations, while the negotiation peace course will allow students a virtual access to people part of negotiating Northern Ireland peace agreements while also getting a virtual tour of Ireland.
All courses will have a strong local-global component with extensive hands-on experiences that will allow students to put theory into practice.
