Dr. Hana Waisserova, TR 2:00-3:15pm, OLDH 205
Women of Central and Eastern Europe who experienced Nazism and Communism lived multitude of identities: they were heroes and warriors, victims and perpetrators, comfort women and nationalist breeders, resistance fighters or snipers and pilots. They saved lives and they gave lives, were "rubble women" and gulag workers, dissidents and agents of change, were judges or victims of show trials, they dealt with loss, trauma, pain, but also with extraordinary empowerment... This interdisciplinary course is a forum that examines the complexity of women totalitarian experience and evaluates lessons learned.
