Becoming a poll worker is quite easy. There are really only three simple criteria:
• Registered as a voter in Lancaster County
• Have transportation to polling place
• Available to work on election day (Tuesday, Nov 5)
The time commitment is minimal compared to what you give to the community. The only things you are required to do are:
• Read the poll worker manual
• Attend a two-to-three hour training seminar
o Scheduled at various times and locations in the weeks before the election
• Work at your assigned polling location from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM on election day
It is hard work, and you will be paid for your work($12/hr), but that’s not why we do it. Democracy is hard work, and it requires we constantly work to maintain it. I would like to ask you and your students to help us.
