Gilman Scholarship Walk-In Essay Advising, Oct. 2nd, 4th, 7-10th
If you are Pell-eligible, you qualify for the Gilman Scholarship, which can help you pay for studying abroad, up to $5000. Before submitting your essays, make sure you get feedback from one of our walk-in essay feedback advising sessions.

Are you a Pell eligible student applying for the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad? Come to this laid back writing lab where you’d get one-on-one attention for your essays. We’ll have snacks on hand, too. Come anytime and stay as long as you want and make great progress on your Gilman essays.

Human Development & Family Science Pathways Event, Oct. 8th
Join the College of Education and Human Sciences to explore careers in Human Development and Family Science. Employers include: Family Service Lincoln, YMCA, St. Monica’s, Jenda Family Services, and more.

Madagascar Info Session, Oct. 9th
8 days in the field observing lemurs at Ihofa Vohitsara Bioreserve, 4 days in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. A pre-trip visit to Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo to hear from conservationists and practice observing lemurs. Get first-hand experience in focal animal behavioral sampling, population surveys, and habitat assessment. Students will gain a hands-on experience on how to conduct primate behavioral studies, and be exposed to the complexities of different forms of data collection.

Iceland Study Abroad Info Session, Oct. 9th & 10th
Students will spend a 12-day period onsite exploring Iceland for an immersive experience learning about the country’s human and physical geographies including sustainabilities. This course is designed to get students outside, learn methods, gain new perspectives, practice leadership, think critically, and learn how to navigate different cultures.

Pride in the Workplace, Oct. 9th
Join us for an evening of hearing from LGBTQIA+ alumni in a series of panel discussions on their careers. LGBTQA+ students, UNL faculty and staff, and all who value inclusion are invited to this event at the Wick Alumni Center. Check in opens at 5 pm; the first panel discussion will begin at 5:30 pm. There will be opportunities for networking throughout the evening.
