Mark your calendars for First Friday on November 1st, as we celebrate Day of the Dead. Join us from 4-7 p.m. for FREE admission, refreshments, craft and concert!
Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a holiday traditionally celebrated in Mexico for families to honor the souls of their deceased loved ones with music, feasts and celebration.
To learn more about this beautiful holiday, we will host three read-aloud times for guests and families from a Little Golden Book titled, "Day of the Dead: A Celebration of Life" written by Polo Orozco. Read-aloud times will be at 4:30, 5:15, and 6:30 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m. we will welcome a musical group from UNL's Glenn Korff School Music, Los Mojitos, who will perform folk-style songs from Mexico and other Latin American countries.
In addition to refreshments, we will host an art project where guests and families can decorate "sugar skulls" with paper, tissue paper, sequins, and markers. Join us anytime from 4:00-7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!
