Recruiting Undergrad Writing Center Consultants

Writing Center
Writing Center

We are looking for outstanding communicators with strong interpersonal skills who are curious, highly motivated, and eager to learn. We seek to hire a diverse staff, and we especially welcome candidates from underrepresented and/or marginalized communities and/or identities, including (but not limited to) students of color, LGBTQIA+ students, first-generation college students, and international and/or multilingual students. While we invite applications from students at every level, students who will be sophomores in the fall and who can handle a challenge are ideal, as staff continuity is crucial for the Writing Center and we hope to keep students on staff for several years. The Consultant position is a paid position, and it serves as an excellent professional development opportunity for students.

Students can learn more about the position and how to apply by viewing the “Writing Center Consultant” posting on Handshake or visiting https://writing.unl.edu/students/become-consultant/

We are also holding two info sessions:
• On Zoom: Mon, Feb. 10, 3:30 pm, https://go.unl.edu/wcinfosession
• In person: Weds, Feb 12, 12:00 pm, in Andrews 102

Students can attend either session to learn more about the Writing Center Consultant position and hear from current consultants about their experiences.
