Museum Exhibit Design Course at International Quilt Museum

Get ready for an unforgettable experience! Our highly anticipated Museum Exhibit Design course, in partnership with students from Saitama University in Japan, is back this fall. Over 5 weeks, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of museum curation at the renowned International Quilt Museum. This year, we’ll be curating stunning textiles from China, with a special focus on Chinese Folk Textiles for Weddings and Children. You’ll learn the art of curating exhibitions, explore the behind-the-scenes operations of a world-class museum, and gain invaluable skills in caring for these priceless textiles. Plus, you'll collaborate with passionate peers from UNL and Japan, building global connections and creating lasting memories. Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of something extraordinary. Anthropology majors can earn Cultural Anth credit for this course.

The course is structured with 2 weeks online, followed by 2 weeks in-person, and concluding with 1 final week online. During the in-person portion, students will meet at the Museum either on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The course will culminate in a special exhibit opening on September 19, 2025. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
