Favorite Book:
George Orwell's 1984. I think everyone should read 1984, it covers interesting themes and still has a lot of relevance today.
Favorite Movie:
The Silence of the Lambs, It’s a horror classic that made a huge mark on pop culture and even kicked off a bunch of great sequels and spin-offs.
Why Global Studies?
I chose Global Studies because of the interdisciplinary nature of the degree. I plan on going to law school after undergrad, so I am able to choose classes that are relevant to my current degree and my future studies.
I chose economics as a minor to diversify my skillset, basic economic knowledge is important when thinking about international relations, trade, and politics
My favorite class I've taken so far is Jesus a Global History with Professor Max Mueller, he really cared about us students and put extra effort to make sure we succeed. I like learning about religion so learning about how different religion's view Jesus was very interesting.
I encourage other Global Studies majors to make the most of their degree. Since many different classes can count toward the major, doing your own research on courses that interest you, then check with an advisor so you can make your academic experience far more fulfilling.
Extracurricular Experiences:
This summer I was abroad through the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program. I was in an intensive Arabic language program in Nizwa, Oman for 2 months. It was a great opportunity as CLS a great way to get an advantage if you want to work in the federal government because you get non-competitive eligibility. It also looks really great on your resume.
On campus I've been involved with Model United Nations and my fraternity ACACIA
Post-Graduation Plans:
After graduation I plan on going to law school, I'm unsure what kind of law I want to specialize in. Depending on the job market when I graduate law school, I'll either look for work at a firm or look at working for the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Service Officer.
