Name: Sylvia Wilson
Major/Minor: Global Studies with a Minor in Japanese

Why Global Studies: I have a deep love for foreign countries. Since I was a child, my dream has been to explore other countries and when I became a freshman in high school I was drawn to Asia. Over my high school career my passion for Asia continued to grow to the point that I could only see myself working in a job related to it. I choose Global Studies because I saw that it would get me closer to my dream. So far my favorite class was East Asian Civilization. I found I enjoyed going to class and I didn't have trouble remembering names and places because I was passionate about it. I suggest that new Global Studies majors get involved as much as possible. Joining clubs and participating in activities associated with Global Studies. Get to know your adviser and start making plans for your future as soon as possible.
What are your post-graduation plans: I have not yet studied abroad but I will be in the next year or two. After I graduate I am planning on participating in the JET Program which will allow me to teach in Japan. After, I plan on serving in the Peace Corps. I want to gain a lot of experience before I get a job. I have not decided what I am going to do for a career but I am hoping that I will by this summer.
