Hometown: New Lenox, IL
Year at UNL: Junior

Favorite movie and why: My favorite movie is Talladega Nights. My best friend and I can quote it from beginning to end and just find it to be so funny.

Why Global Studies?
I chose Global Studies because it is such a flexible major that has allowed me to explore so many different areas of interest. I knew I wanted to focus more on international areas of study and this has allowed me to learn about different cultures and meet so many interesting people. My favorite classes so far have International Human Rights and State Terror. These two have been less lecture based and more interactive, which has allowed me to do research into topics I am truly passionate about. My advice to new Global Studies majors would be; don't be afraid to venture outside of your comfort zone and take a class you wouldn't normally take. You can learn so much and expand your views of the world.

Education Abroad Experience:
Over the summer, I spent five weeks in Salamanca, Spain. This was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. While abroad, I took classes in Spanish literature, culture, and language, which helped me greatly improve my Spanish. I also had the opportunity to travel to different cities in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco where I learned to surf, rode a camel, and met so many amazing people. Studying abroad will always be one of my favorite memories during my time here at UNL.
What are you post-graduation plans? (If you’re not sure talk about what might be your ideal career) After graduating this May, I plan on going to law school where I will study International Human Rights. Following this, I hope to work for the United Nations one day as one of their Human Rights lawyers.
