The McNair Scholars Program is currently recruiting new scholars with applications due April 22nd, 2019. The accepted scholars will begin the program in fall 2019, engage in the McNair Summer Research Experience in 2020, and participate in academic year colloquia activities until they graduate.
What McNair Scholars Do:
- Engage in research
- Develop and deliver professional research presentations
- Attend graduate school preparation seminars
What McNair Scholars Receive:
- McNair stipend - $2,800 along with room and board during the McNair Summer Research Experience
- Mentoring
- Academic Development
- Supportive scholarly, social, and cultural environment
- Funding for graduate school campus visits
Undergraduate students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply to the UNL McNair Scholars Program:
• Full-time students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln who plan to pursue graduate education, with the ultimate goal of earning a Ph.D. (because of Department of Education guidelines, we can no longer serve students interested in professional programs)
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Freshman, sophomore or junior with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or above, and
• Either a first-generation college student with a maximum income level established by the U.S. Department of Education OR a member of a group underrepresented in graduate education.
