Internship with Lincoln Literacy
Internship with Lincoln Literacy

Lincoln Literacy, a multi-award-winning charitable provider of language and literacy services, is looking for 2 interns this fall semester to teach English to new immigrants and refugees in our community. Commitment is 6-8 hours per week. Lincoln Literacy's mission is to assist people of all cultures and strengthen our community by teaching English language and literacy skills.

If selected, students will be trained to teach English as an instructor in small-group classes of refugees and immigrants. Students may also be selected to work with refugee children in their FLAIR family literacy program. Students will be part of an international team at one of Lincoln's most respected nonprofits, where they also help with nonprofit administrative tasks and public events. Schedule can usually be individualized to accommodate other activities, such as school and employment.

This is an unpaid internship, but it provides a valuable and satisfying experience. To get an idea of what it's like, watch these short videos by two of their UNL summer interns: https://youtu.be/rRskwtAKA5U and https://youtu.be/-JcpFlRP5RM .
