Students nominated SNR’s Clark Archer for the UNL Parents Association “Certificate of Recognition for Contributions to Students.” The award honored Archer’s continued efforts to improve students’ experiences on campus.

J. Clark Archer received the UNL Parents Association “Certificate of Recognition for Contributions to Students” at a Teaching Council reception held on Friday, February 8. UNL students nominate faculty or staff for this award to honor individuals who improve students’ experiences on campus.

Archer, a professor of geography in the School of Natural Resources, felt honored to receive this award. “In my view, teaching is by far the most important role of any faculty member at the University of Nebraska,” said Archer.

“About twenty centuries ago,” he explained, “the great Greek Geographer Strabo asserted that ‘Geography acquaints us with the occupants of the lands and oceans, and makes persons who cultivate it earnest in the great problems of life and happiness.’”

“I am delighted to be able to carry on Strabo’s tradition, and very honored to receive recognition from students for my efforts.”

This was Archer’s first UNL Parents Association Recognition Award.
