Tala Awada stepped down from her position as Interim Director of SNR. She will return to the post of Associate Director and the Interim Coordinator of the Geography program beginning August 1, 2013.

Tala Awada stepped down from her position as the Interim Director at SNR, effective June 30. Mark Kuzila will fill the role as Acting Interim Director and Interim Associate Director throughout the month of July. SNR’s new Director, John Carroll, will take the helm August 1.

Awada is very thankful to everyone at SNR for their “invaluable support throughout the past year.”

“Special appreciation goes to my administrative team,” said Awada. “They have gone beyond the call of duty to provide support to me and the entire School.”

Awada, who has filled the role of Interim Director since August 1, 2012, will be returning to SNR as the Associate Director and the Interim Coordinator of the Geography program beginning August 1, 2013.

While Awada is on vacation in Greece for a much deserved break, Kuzila will lead SNR’s administration. He said he hopes to take care of some odds and ends on the director’s desk to ease the August transition.

Kuzila also wished to thank Tala for her leadership. “Tala provided a lot of energy to the School,” said Kuzila. “She’s a get-things-done kind of person. I think she helped move the school forward.”

Ronnie Green, NU Vice President and IANR Harlan Vice Chancellor, also thanked Awada for leading SNR over the past year. “[Tala] has done an exceptional job of leading SNR during this interim year,” said Green.

SNR sends Tala a hearty ‘thank you’ for her tireless leadership throughout this year.
