UNL Campus Recreation facilities are open free of charge to faculty and staff in December. Employees need only show a valid NCard at the member services desk in the Campus Rec Center or Fleming Fields Annex Building to gain free access through Dec. 31.

The offer includes free entry for spouses, partners and children.

"We are excited for many faculty and staff to visit us and experience the many ways fitness and sport can enhance their lives," said Kim Barrett, assistant director for wellness. "The days between holidays, combined with the semester's end, is a stressful time period and UNL Campus Rec encourages individuals to make it a priority to carve out private time to relax. Exercise and sport are excellent options to achieve this."

The Campus Rec Center on City Campus, 841 N. 14th St., is a full-service fitness center with a wide array of exercise options, including treadmills, ellipticals, cycles, strength weight machines, free weights, and super circuit; sports courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton, racquetball and squash; indoor swimming pool; indoor track; indoor turf field for open recreation and running, climbing wall; group fitness, yoga, and pilates-style classes; injury care center and massage therapy; and outdoor gear rentals and bike shop. Showers and towel service available, in addition to day-use lockers and rented lockers.

The Fleming Fields Annex Building, 2301 N. 33rd St., is a fitness-only center adjacent to East Campus. The facility includes treadmills, elliptical machines, cycles, strength/weight machines, free weights and stretching areas. The building is a temporary location due to the construction of a new East Rec Center.

Personal training, nutrition consultations, instruction and specialty classes, and massage therapy are offered for additional fees.

The rec centers have adjusted during the winter break, beginning Dec. 20. At least one facility is open each day during the break, except Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
