A new exhibit in the East Union Loft Gallery is showcasing the art of Abe Jackson.
The exhibit, "The Sketchbook: Wood, Metal, Paper and Cardboard," shows through Feb. 28. The gallery is on the third floor of the East Union. Hours mirror those of the East Union.
Jackson has been drawing and painting for about 40 years. He studied painting and drawing at Southern University under Roscoe Reddix, Jack Jordan and Rodney Ferguson. For the last 25 years, Jackson has worked as a database analyst at Boys Town in Omaha.
Recently, Jackson has featured his drawings and sculptures in photographs to compose visual stories. He is currently creating graphic images based on the items displayed in the Loft Gallery. The graphic images being created are available on Jackson's blog, http://www.photoblog.com/maharba.
