Are you good with a paint brush, a rake or a hammer? Want to get to know your peers in the School of Natural Resources? Want to give back to the Lincoln community and make it a better place? Then take part in UNL's "The Big Event" on the morning of April 5.
"The Big Event" is a campuswide day of community service in which about 3,000 students, faculty and staff will volunteer throughout the city of Lincoln. "One Big Day, One Big Thanks" is the theme for the day of volunteerism, which aims to show gratitude to the greater Lincoln community through completing one day of service-oriented activities for neighbors and the community. The event takes place from about 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 5. A T-Shirt and some food are provided.
SNR would like to put together a team of students, faculty and staff to help out with "The Big Event." By registering and working as team, SNR participants will get to work on a project together. This could be painting a house, cleaning up a city park, dressing up a trail or something similar. Teams won't know what the project is until about one week before the event.
Those interested in being part of the SNR team should do two things:
1) Let Mark Mesarch (mmesarch1@unl.edu) know that you'd like to be part of the SNR team.
2) Register for "The Big Event" online at http://involved-apps.unl.edu/a/bigevent/.
When registering, there will be place under "Organization" where you can select the School of Natural Resources to ensure that you are part of the SNR team. The deadline to register is March 21.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark Mesarch, SNR Web/database specialist, at 472-5904 or mmesarch1@unl.edu.
