Oscar Ortiz, deputy director general for development at the International Potato Center (CIP) in Lima, Peru, will present a special seminar at 10 a.m., Aug. 20 in the Nebraska East Union. Ortiz's visit is hosted by Guillermo Baigorria, SNR crop simulation modeler. All are welcome to attend.

Ortiz's seminar will explore the challenges and opportunities of the 2014-2023 strategy and corporate plan of the International Potato Center.

Ortiz possesses vast experience in participatory research and training related to integrated insect and disease control, integrated crop management, agronomy and seed management, among other topics. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. He holds a Ph.D. in agricultural innovation and rural development from the University of Reading.
