The students of Ruopu Li's "Introduction to Geographic Information Systems" course (GEOG/NRES 412/812) will feature their coursework in a poster competition that will be on display Dec. 9-10 in the Hardin Hall first floor lobby. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to cast their votes for their favorite posters.

Li, geography lecturer, assigned his students a GIS final project that involves addressing the GIS needs of Community Crops, a local non-profit organization that aims to help people grow healthy food collaboratively within the city of Lincoln.

The project objective is to identify new sites that can potentially be utilized as new community gardens. Students worked in groups to develop a GIS project to model and map the land suitability for new community garden sites.

The students behind the winning poster will receive a certificate and an award from the Community Crops manager.
