The School of Natural Resources is set to offer a series of professional development seminars. The topics are geared toward students but anyone in SNR is invited to attend. The first seminar will take place from noon-12:50 p.m., Sept. 25 in the Hardin Hall second floor lobby. Pizza will be provided.

"Professional development seminars are an important part of helping our students understand that education is more than learning new technical skills for their professions," said SNR director John Carroll. "As the job market for our students diversifies, we must help them be best positioned to navigate a more complex professional world."

• Creating and Presenting Award-winning Posters
Friday, Sept. 25 from noon-12:50 p.m.
Hardin Hall second floor lobby
Presenters: Larkin Powell, professor of conservation biology and animal ecology, and Dee Ebbeka, SNR graphic design specialist
Learn more about effective research poster design and appropriate content for award-winning posters, regardless of discipline. We'll also share tips on effective networking and communicating during a poster session. Pizza will be provided.

• Finding a Graduate Position
Friday, Oct. 9 from noon-12:50 p.m.

Presenters: SNR Faculty and Graduate School Panel
SNR faculty will explain how graduate school admission differs from the undergraduate experience. Get advice on applying for assistantships and finding a good program. SNR graduate students will tell how they found their graduate programs and answer student questions. Pizza will be provided.

• Applying for Jobs/Interviews
Friday, Oct. 23 from noon-12:50 p.m.

Representatives from the government and private sector will tell what they look for in applications. Learn about websites and resources to use for job searches.
