October is LGBTQA+ History Month with special events

LGBTQA+ History Month is observed annually in October to recognize and celebrate the achievements of LGBTQA+ community and those who support and advocate.

This year, the LGBTQA+ Resource Center will be celebrating LGBTQA+ Voices for Equality in Nebraska.

The events and dates include:

• Oct. 1: "How to do Drag Workshop!" Interested in learning about drag performance and possibly participating in the annual "Guys & Dolls Drag Show" Oct. 30? This event will take place at 6 p.m. in the Nebraska Union.

• Oct. 13: LGBTQA+ Voices for Equality in Nebraska: 13th annual LGBTQA+ History Month dinner at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln.

- 5:30 p.m.: pre-dinner social sponsored by Outlinc

- 6:30 p.m.: seating and raffle-ticket sales

- 7 p.m.: Program begins (buffet dinner, dessert social)

• Oct. 19: LGBT Center Day. Stop by the LGBTQA+ Resource Center between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to chat and enjoy some light refreshments.

• Oct. 30: "Guys & Dolls: Night of the Living Drag Show" and bake sale at 8 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room. The event is co-sponsored with Spectrum UNL, The Change and OASIS. Tipping will be encouraged and will go to help fund student travel to "MBLGTACC" and/or "Creating Change." Bake sale proceeds also help fund student activities.
