As part of its annual CASNR Week festivities, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources is hosting a free 5K fun run/walk at 9 a.m., April 9 on UNL's East Campus.
The event is open to UNL faculty, staff, students and the community, including children with parents/guardians. Awards given for best costume, top male and female finisher, and top master male and female (ages 40 and up) finishers.
Preregistration is required at http://go.unl.edu/fun16.
A maximum of 300 entries are being accepted on a first come, first serve basis until April 8 or before, if it sells out. No sign-ups will be taken on race day. For the past few years, the fun run's entries have filled several weeks before race day.
All participants need to pick up their race number bib and turn in their participation waiver the week prior to the fun run, at one of these locations:
• 4 to 6 p.m. April 6 @ Campus Rec Center (city)
• 2 to 7 p.m. April 7 @ Campus Rec Center (city)
• 12 to 5 p.m. April 8 @ Rec & Wellness Center (east)
• 5:30 to 7 p.m. April 8 @ Campus Rec Center (city)
Bib pick-up is not available the morning of the fun run.
The run/walk begins promptly at 9 a.m. and starts and finishes at the East Campus Mall. View the course route at http://go.unl.edu/funrun_map.
The course is relatively flat with an elevation difference of 31.5 feet and total ascent of 62 feet. It is an excellent route for all runners/walkers - beginners, experienced, and anyone training for spring road races.
Awards are given to top finishers, but the event is untimed - official times are not recorded or posted.
This event is a cooperative project of CASNR and UNL Campus Recreation.
