Even after the Olympic flame has been extinguished in Rio de Janeiro, you can continue to learn about and celebrate the world’s premier athletic competition.
The events and traditions of the Olympic Games have evolved and changed over time. Learn about the modern games from their beginning in Athens, Greece, in 1896, to the present day, as the games have transformed into a major forum for social, economic, political and cultural interaction.
You will hear from Charles (Charlie) Greene, a former UNL athlete and gold and bronze medalist in the 1968 Olympics; Olympic athletes; coaches who have prepared American teams for Olympic competition; fans and others who have participated in the Olympic experience.
