Why did you decide to come to University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
Originally I did not plan to attend UNL because of the size (25,000 is too many people to me). I looked at a few other schools such as University of Nebraska-Kearney, but found that they did not have a good program that interested me. I decided to visit UNL just to see what the campus was like and fell in love with East campus, especially the size. I also learned that the university not only had a major I was interested in but also many different focus programs to hone in on my interests.

What is your favorite thing about the university?
I love the professors and overall environment. The professors and advisers are extremely helpful and try to make college more manageable. I also enjoy all the opportunities available outside the classroom. I was able to intern with the UNL Fisheries ecology lab, with Dr. Mark Pegg, and catch fish all summer long.

What is your favorite class and why?
My favorite class by far was plant science. I have always been a fan of science classes and the lab had exercises that I can actually see using in a future career or hobby. I also found the information interesting.

What are your plans following graduation?
I plan to attend graduate school and get my masters in Fisheries Ecology. I hope this leads me to a career as a fish biologist or aquatic conservationist.

What is life like outside of school?
When I am not doing schoolwork, I live outside. I love to hunt, which fills up a majority of fall and wintertime. I also enjoy fishing and camping during the summer. My family recently bought a piece of property; I spend a large majority of my time there. Family and friends are very important to me, most my activities involve them.
