Food Fort became a repeat grant recipient this semester. The organization aspires to provide food to children in need, and do so with respect and love to make a positive impact in Lincoln.
The grant funding will help Food Fort double the size of their current garden, where they grow vegetables that are shared with families in the neighborhoods they serve. Additionally, funding will help them hire a teenage worker to help maintain the garden as a part-time job. Through this employment experience, the individual will learn to all aspects of growing crops, as well as job acquisition, accountability, hard work and nutrition.
