The Spring 2021 class selected Visionary Youth as a recipient of a $5,000 grant. The nonprofit exists to uplift youth and families in the Lincoln community through a variety of services and events.
Annually, Visionary Youth organizes a Back to School event with other community organizations to provide haircuts, school supplies and clothes to low-income youth. These simple items give confidence and a foundation for academic success to these future leaders. Last year’s event served over 2500 people and provided 900+ backpacks, 425 shoe vouchers and 723 haircuts. Most recently, the organization held a Holiday Toy Drive in December 2021 to distribute toys to families in the community. Throughout the year, the organization makes an impact in the community by partnering with other local partners to organize meaningful services and events.
Last year’s Strive to Thrive Lincoln grant funds were allocated to renovations of the Visionary Youth space located at (4230 S 33rd St, Suite 105). This building is being developed into a community gathering space to provide individuals with a place to belong, build relationships, and foster holistic well-being.
