NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
Graduating seniors engaged in undergraduate research who plan on going to graduate school for master's or doctoral degrees and first-year graduate students should consider applying for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduating seniors and graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions. The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution.
The application consists of two essays — a personal, relevant background, and future goals statement and a graduate research plan statement — and three letters of recommendation.
Application deadlines are:
- Oct. 19 — Life Sciences
- Oct. 20 —Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Materials Research, Psychology, Social Sciences, STEM Education and Learning
- Oct. 21 — Engineering
- Oct. 22 — Chemistry, Geosciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics and Astronomy
Goldwater Scholarship
This scholarship is for sophomores and juniors who have a high grade point average, have significant undergraduate research, and are intending on pursuing a doctorate. The campus deadline is Nov. 1, and the application consists of a few short essays, a research essay, and three letters of recommendation.
