The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor sponsored the Fall 2017 Teaching and Learning Symposium: Motivation, Engagement, Innovation, and Evidence on October 9, 2017. This symposium provided the attendees with many opportunities to engage in conversations about teaching and learning, to hear from experts on emerging issues in improving student outcomes, and to network with others seeking to improve teaching at UNL.
To provide follow-up opportunities for those who attended, and also for those who had conflicts and could not attend, we have added a number of resources to the symposium website: https://academicaffairs.unl.edu/events/teaching-learning-symposium-fall-2017
The slides for the keynote along with suggested next steps are located at the end of the keynote description under the link “Keynote follow-up materials.” We have also added links to “Session follow-up materials” at selected breakout sessions. You will find these links immediately following the session titles and presenter lists for each session. The handouts and recordings of the 12 Small Teaching Helps/Hints are also included in these follow-up materials. Contact information for additional follow-up is provided for each session.
The keynote presenter, Dr. Michael Palmer, University of Virginia, has also shared information about a Transparency in Learning and Teaching project that he felt might be of interest:
Mary-Ann Winkelmes’ TILT Project (Transparency in Learning and Teaching).
For the most complete and up-to-date information on this project, go to: https://tilthighered.com/ and http://www.aacu.org/peerreview/2016/winter-spring/Winkelmes.
If you have questions about any of these materials, need additional information about the symposium, or want to connect with an instructional designer for assistance in implementing a particular strategy, please contact Marie Barber at mbarber2@unl.edu, 402-472-4354.
