UNL Alert notifications will be extended to General Purpose (GP) classroom computers via the ‘Alertus’ app. Based on a recommendation of the University Police which was ratified by the Faculty Senate, Alertus will be installed on all GP classroom and lab computers as well as loaner laptops managed by Information Technology Services in April.
When a UNL Alert is active, the Alertus screen will pop up on GP classroom computers. There is a button on the screen to acknowledge the receipt of the message and return the computer to its normal state.
By extending UNL Alerts to GP classroom computers, University Police will have the capability to provide safety instructions quickly and directly to faculty and students in those classrooms.
