Larry Routh has joined the Nebraska Alumni Association staff as alumni career specialist. He will provide career coaching and resources to University of Nebraska-Lincoln alumni and friends.
“Whenever we ask alumni and friends what they would most value from their alumni association, career development and resources are always at or near the top of the list,” NAA Executive Director Diane Mendenhall said. “So we’re very excited to offer a service that will potentially make a difference for alumni, friends, our local community and the entire state.”
The addition of Routh, who recently retired from his post as UNL Director of Career Services, marks the introduction of the NAA’s alumni career services program. New career tips and resources will be available online at http://HuskerAlum.org/career-advancement in the coming months. Additionally, the NAA will continue to collaborate with UNL Career Services to provide alumni with resources.
Career coaching sessions will be tailored to meet individual needs, including advice and tips, interest assessment, exploration of available resources, resume review, interview preparation and job search strategies. All UNL alumni and friends are eligible for a free consultation with Routh in person, by phone or by Skype. Additional sessions are available at no cost to NAA members. Alumni may contact Routh at lrouth@huskeralum.org or 888-353-1874 for an appointment.
Routh has been a higher education counselor, researcher, teacher and administrator at universities in Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska, where he directed UNL Career Services from 1988-2012. He also held interim appointments as Director of Admissions and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at UNL.
A native Nebraskan, Routh completed a bachelor’s degree in education at Kearney State College and a master’s and Ph.D. in counseling education at the University of Kansas.
